whiteangelSep 16, 02:50 PMCool so the votes are towards an icekey.
I guess I should try to get one off ebay then.
The thing about this two keyboards is that they are not easily available in the uk, and that they are quite expensive if you can find them online.

MCIowaRulzApr 30, 07:24 PMYes, I understand that there are differences between the two types of computers however, Is the 2360QM i7 in the Samsung be as good as the rumored processor in the iMac? I'd be looking at the 21.5 inch model. Specifically the $1200 model which is rumored to have the following
1199$ 21.5" iMac
Intel Core i3-2100 (3.1GHz)
AMD 6490M with 256MB GDDR5
750GB HD
2x2GB RAM; option for 4x2GB
The Samsung has the following

Intel Core i7
Processor Speed
2.0GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz)
System Memory (RAM)
6GB
Computer Hard Drive Size
750GB
Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT525M
Video Memory
1GB GDDR3
I like the Mac OS X OS (and I NEED to have my Mac OS X G4 from 2001 replaced) but I also need a laptop as well and I want the most BANG for my buck.:)
I have $1,200 to spend. Advice is appreciated from the experts here.
Thanks
Dav1Mar 26, 01:02 PMHonestly, what are the biggest risks of JBing an iPad? As much as I want the benefits, I can't afford a new one if I were to do anything irreversible to this one.
The biggest risk is you'll follow the advise of a jerk that doesn't even have an iPad, and believes he has all the answers..., in my opinion.
The iPad depends on flash memory, and flash memory has a limited number of write cycles, there is always a possibility that any memory upgrade will brick your device, but Apple uses pretty darn good flash memory, and I've yet to do it in over four years of jail breaking...
I will acknowledge it is not for everyone, and there is some risk involved. I've been convinced that I've bricked my unit more than once, yet I've always managed to recover it. Part of that just depends on how stubborn one is. How well one can read and follow directions.
Ideally you have a friend who can help you jailbreak the first time, kind of walk you through it, but even without such a friend it is possible to do it without issues.

AppleScruff1May 7, 02:53 AMI thought about the Air, especially considering I'll be buying an SSD to replace the HDD in the MBP, however the 4GB of RAM and the older Core 2 Duo processors kinda scared me away. Now if the MBA has a refresh before we get back in July I'll definitely look into it...
As was your +1 for the $1199 13" or $1499 13"
Aaron
The updated Air may be available around the time you get back home, so that might be an option to consider.
And thank you for serving. It is appreciated and I wish you a safe trip back home.

WannabeSQJul 1, 12:34 PMI have a Digidesign Pro Tools Card, the Digi 001 and am thinking about upgrading to the G5, even though Digidesign hasn't "approved" the new machines yet (they still haven't approved the FW800 MDDs yet...)
But I read something about PCI-X slots and that they wont work with some older PCI cards, which types of cards won't work in a PCI-X slot? More specifically, would the Digi 001 work?

Avril Lavigne early life 2010stubeeefSep 23, 07:36 PMMaybe you should post all your copy on this forum and let everyone do the work for ya.
Of course with my outstanding spelling and compostition skills, my own personal editor (skunk keeps working on me, to no avail I might add), and grammer check (I think it is on here somewherz), I could just do that my self 4 ya.
Rotz a Ruck there snapz. :p

sweexJun 11, 01:25 PMThe way I read this article is: Apple is going for that little bit more, which cost a bit more also but they know that the potential clients are willing to afford it so why wouldn't they do it? Samsung can't afford the same move so they cry out loud saying their better...
(Ok maybe it's a little exaggerated but you get the idea...)
terraphantmApr 30, 02:23 PMI fail to see the need to preserve a baseband that can't be unlocked.
The team isn't going to waste their time working on 3.10 when they can just work on the most recent, or put serious effort into whatever comes with 5.0.
Then they'd just have everyone update to 5.0.
There is the off chance that they'll find a crash in one of the older basebands that was inadvertently fixed in the newer basebands. But I agree in that it probably isn't worth preserving since there's an equal chance that one of the newer basebands will have a crash that wasn't available in an older one... and w/ the iPhone 4 you can only install whatever baseband is being signed at that moment, so preserving a baseband might actually screw one's unlock chances too.
Hopefully they can figure out the NCK Unlock stuff since that'd be just as good as an official unlock. If the key truly is 40-bits, it shouldn't be that hard to brute force. Everything has been kinda quiet lately though, so who knows what's going on behind the scenes. They might even be saving it for the iPhone 5 release

garybUKFeb 16, 08:56 AMWhat frequency range will the xion usb turntable sample at? 44khz, try and go for 96khz to get a better de-clicking and de-popping result (though there's some debate about this). Vinyl has better results when recording at 24bit also.
The file format is kind of mute, but I always record mine in WAV to keep a master copy, then convert later using DBPowerAmp tools (on windows).
Plus Wav is supported in iTunes so you can convert using their dubious converters within iTunes itself.
Edit: I also use Audacity as it enables you to do a lot more filters without damaging the original copy.
jamdrJan 21, 12:12 PMThanks for the review. I was considering getting a Shuffle, but now that you mention it, maybe I'll get both the Mini and Shuffle :D I need a flash drive, too, so that probably makes sense.

gnasher729Apr 24, 03:24 PMThe memcpy() function returns a pointer to dest. (http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man3/memcpy.3.html)
That falls under "esoteric knowledge that nobody should ever bother with". Which means it immediately fails a code review, just like someone writing "a + 1 << i" and expecting people to know which operator has higher precedence.
