This is usually intended to be a criticism of any person who has a rich imagination but does not benefit from it in any measurable or practical way. As an example: A "starving artist". It is to say that a person's reality is quite different from their imagined life.

I really did, it was such a nice place to let the 17-40 f4.0L stretch it's legs!

I was on a Cruise and hit alot of Countries in the Med, and honestly, while we were only in portugal for a short time, it and Spain were my favorite countries, albeit I was in Spain for three times the time I was in portugal for, Portugal still beat the tits off France. Food was awesome, Climate, Scenery, People....the wine. Okay Italy might have better food. But just barely :D

The timing of all these "bitching" posts just seems suspicious.

Oh, I beg to differ. I (and pretty much my entire family) are major Apple product users (day 1 iPhone users, etc). My brother uses the 3GS and I have the iPhone 4. Both of us report MAJOR change in battery drain over the past month or two. The battery drains 2-4 times faster than before. My battery drain was so significant I took it in for service. The apple store said that the battery checked out ok but that since the performance was off, they would do a battery switch-out... which turned out to be a new phone. However, the issue is identical. Now I must walk around with a charger as it can drain in just a couple hours, certainly in half a day, with only mild use. This is a major software issue and I hope it gets fixed. This is not just "bitching"...

Some games like Adventure, Tempest, Ms. Pacman hold up pretty well, but they are the exception.

jousterMar 25, 02:21 PMAll I want is a little scale in the corner. Is that too much to ask? It's impossible to figure out how far away things are visually. In the heat of navigation (especially via car) time is of the essence and having to re-calculate the route just to figure out the distance to destination from the current location takes too long.

Which is why, in the heat of navigation, it's better to use a dedicated GPS system. I'd love it if Apple made my TomTom redundant. One fewer thing to carry and charge.

You dont understand how OS version works? The newest version runs ALL software for the OS. Android 2.3 does exactly that. Of course an app written for 2.3 wont run on 1.6. Thats just common sense.





bozzykidMar 25, 04:39 PMThey should buy one of those dedicated GPS/Maps companies like Garmin or TomTom and integrate their software into iOS5. Microsoft will be doing it soon with OVI and i suspect Google will be doing something similar with their new vector based version of Google MAPS.

It will be a shame for apple to be left out of this game.

TomTom or Garmin wouldn't help Apple that much. Garmin and TomTom both license either Teleatlas or Navteq for road data and they don't have access to much else since most of their devices are "offline" devices. Google has used Google Maps to build up a lot of data (they currently provide their own traffic on Google maps by curating all the data from mobile GMaps users, etc). A lot of people are missing out on the fact that "maps" that people expect today is a lot more than just road data. Getting access to road data is not that complicated for Apple to obtain. The rest is very complicated. Currently Google is the leader in this and there really isn't a close second (although Bing is doing some innovative things in this area).

I just don't understand this whole "he's 18 and and adult" routine. He may be 18 in the eyes of the law, but with no real life experience behind him I hardly think he can be considered mature enough to make adult decisions. What's with this whole "hey presto the law says your an adult so you your all grow up now" ??
