I got the lower base 27" model for $1615 + tax, so I'm pretty happy. The $85 I saved will pay for an extra 8GB of RAM :) Going to have some dev VMs running on this sucker with no problems.

I got mine ordered as well! i went with the high end 27", with the sale going on it cost me $2038 including tax. i read a forum post on macrumors that said that the imacs are having issues with screen yellowing. i'm starting to worry about it a little bit haha

BloodstarMay 2, 10:17 PMIf I'm remembering correctly, there was a CD installer for Tiger. If you could find that, you'd be good.

I'd suggest getting at least an external DVD drive, though... always good to be able to burn a DVD, even if purely for backup purposes.

mrk2010Dec 28, 01:17 AMI think I've figured out what the issue is, so I'm posting for the benefit of any user who may come across this problem in the future.

I was sharing a folder on an NTFS partition on my hard drive. The NTFS partition is intended to be used as a shared storage space between my dual-boot OS's of Windows 7 and OS X on my MacBook (since Windows 7 is unable to read from the HFS+ file system that OS X uses).

When I tried sharing a folder on my Macintosh HD (in the HFS+ file system), I was able to have the settings stick. I'm not sure why it didn't allow the settings for the NTFS volume to stick, especially since I have NTFS-3G installed to enable write access to the volume, as well as read. (By default, OS X doesn't allow write access to NTFS file systems). I'm guessing that this is a bug that would be fixed in the future when OS X supports writing to NTFS volumes natively.

So, if you want to share something on your Mac over the network, and you want to define users and their permissions, you should make sure that the folders that you're sharing are on a drive or partition formatted to HFS+.

big_boldgeSep 26, 11:52 AMJust a quick question, I need to buy a memory stick, for tranfers of work from my iMac at home to a Windows Dell at school, but I was wondering, to get a shuffle and use it as a memory stick as well as mp3 player. However can the shuffle transfer documents of Mac based data, eg Pages to a Windows computer? I know you can use it as a memory stick but is that just for Apple to Apple transfers or Windows to Windows, depending upon its settings?
Also another quick question as it's been bothering me alot recently, what does the "i" in iMac, and iPod stand for as well as teh "e" in eMac? Thanks

Well, I wouldn't say it is brutal to the point of being unplayable. The point of the game is to collect these things called "Spectra" in each level. You do this by getting your character to climb higher and explore more of the levels. But you have a limited time to do this. That is where the difficulty comes in. The mechanic of the game is very easy to grasp and pretty easy to master. It is the time limit that gives me the most problems.

It is a very fun game though. I didn't mean to give the wrong impression. The game, as with all of the PixelJunk games, is very fun and has a very unique graphical look and great soundtrack. Easily worth a purchase from the PSN.

I say may the best man (company) win. To be honest, and this is just opinion, I think Cisco threw the "iPhone" out there because they knew the real iPhone was coming (as did we all) and wanted to bank on it somehow, just like I'm sure iPhone-related email addresses were swiped up recently too.
