dobbinOct 17, 04:32 AMThis is indeed a well known issue with cubes. Some people were affected immediately, and others only after a period of time like you.

My cube has a 'seizure' about once every 4 months and it will do this for an hour or two and then correct itself and be fine again.

There have been numerous causes and solutions suggested and it appears that different things work for different machines.

The usual cause is the proximity switch - the touch sensitive one on top of the cube. Most people report that the switching on and off is caused by a badly fitting or loose gasket around this switch inside the cube.

Some people say that making sure this gasket is seated firmly will cure the problem, and others have had this replaced (for free) by Apple.

I have never found this to be the case with mine, it just seems to have a mind of its own, for short spells every now and again.

Some people have also reported that this happens on hot days or when the air-con is swithed off. I've not noticed this (as I live in the UK it never gets hot!).

There have been hundreds of discussions on this topic since the cube was introduced and you can probably find some useful info on the web.

I'm not sure why Apple have not provided more help on this topic given what a widespread issue it was/is, but I just searched Google for "Apple Cube Switch problem" and it came back with a lot of links. Bear in mind that the solution for one cube may not help yours! I guess this is the price we have to pay for having the coolest computer the world has ever seen :D

Just wanted to make a suggestion on thread titles. I may be the only one, but I think that thread titles with repeated question marks (?????) are annoying and unnecessary. It only suggests unnecessary urgency and importance to the thread the poster has written. Therefore I think there should be a rule that states that threads with more than one repeated question mark in the title will be deleted until renamed.

FredAkbarJul 11, 07:36 PMI just logged into my root user account in Terminal, and it seems that this security issue isn't just about the 2nd-to-last character in a password: my root password is 13 characters long, and as long as I get the first 8 characters right, it accepts the password even if the last 5 characters are excluded or incorrect.

I just tried the same thing in the Finder, and it works there too.

edit: by the way, I have 10.2.6.

So many people think they can make amazing videos by zooming in and out all the time when really the zooming just hurts them. The panning and tilting was nice but needs to be much smoother and also I'd recommend not using copyrighted music without the proper permissions.

Tried to reinstall the update, but that crashes with an unknown error. Is there some tool that I can use to debug this installation and see the specific error condition?

Okay. I solved it, here is a description for anyone suffering from the same problem:
After installing 2010-006 the laptop (13" macbook pro OSX 10.6) came back from restarting, my clock was reset to January 1st 2001 and the system could not get a wireless connection. Manually downloaded the update using another computer and moved it over to the laptop. Manual reinstall failed. Set the date back to the present day and manual reinstall worked. The computer restarted and everything worked again.

CaptainCaveMannNov 28, 06:02 PMI used the V400 for a while. We didnt get a long to well. It was fine, the battery life was fine for me. Nothing un reasonable. 3-4 days is what I got. I seemed rather slow n sluggish at times. It also scratches very easier. Then my backlight died on it. ( Just one day went out.) I went into Cingular and they gave me a new one on the spot.

I was done with the phone though, and bought a V600 at the same time. (sold the new V400 on ebay) It much more durable IMO opinion.

I've since bought a V3.

All in all its a good phone. Nothing special IMO. but solid.So you would recomend the v600 over the v400 as far as battery life and quality?

Well after I did that I realized I couldn't delete them, and I realized in the contract they made me sign, it threatened if you put any type of games on it to make you buy a new one. I was wondering if there is anyway around this without changing anything like the software.

You didn't put a game on it. You put a link to a game on the home screen. Nothing is installed on the iPad doing that other than a link. Just like a bookmark in a web browser

In brief, there is a vessel called the popliteal artery runs quite close to the surface along the back of the leg from just above the knee joint until it splits into the the two sural arteries a few inches below the knee. Even a relatively shallow slash or puncture wound in this area can sever this artery, and unless proper treatment is applied quickly, you can definitely bleed out from this wound; 2 hours would be plenty of time.
