lilcosco08May 3, 03:14 PMyou could always do what I did and buy a cheap off-contract phone that requires the data plan, then wait it out to see what the iPhone 5 adds to the table.
I bought a Palm Pixi Plus for $60 off of Newegg, it got me the unlimited data plan, plus they threw in a complimentary 5GB tethering option as well since that was also included with the Pixi Plus, due to the mobile hotspot feature, when they actually still carried the phone. They couldn't answer for sure when I asked if the tethering would transfer if I upgraded down the line, but they assured me the unlimited data would. Also, by getting the off contract phone it left my previous upgrades (I've still got 2 accrued since I haven't used an upgrade in 4 years) intact for use on the iPhone 5, or other phone if I so choose.

I was about to do that, but then I read somewhere that Verizon won't grandfather when you upgrade after they switch the plans

chrono1081Mar 27, 11:19 PMSo even though I don't shoot weddings generally* one thing I've noticed anytime I do is that there is never a good amount of time given to the photographer. (Wedding photogs can attest to this!).

Anyway this last weekend I was at my sisters wedding. They rented a mansion in the middle of the Arizona desert and it was the first wedding that was actually enjoyable! No stress. There were a million incidents that would be traditionally considered "screwups" (the bride and groom seeing each other and hanging out before the ceremony, the bride getting crap all over her dress, the couple kissing before they even gave wedding vows. etc) the list goes on and on.

Anyway the bride didn't care about any of that, the groom didn't care about any of that, and it was the first wedding I've been to where the focus was on celebration not ceremony. It was fantastic....and...thankfully they took my advice and gave their wedding photographer three HOURS of photo shoot time before the ceremony! He and his assistants got so many great shots as I watched in envy only dreaming of what could be done with that amount of time. (The most time I was ever given was 25 minutes.)

The wedding was outside too so there were a ton of awesome opportunities, and even inside the lighting was really good. Needless to say I could only dream of shooting a wedding in such a place! (Although the thought of shooting weddings is generally a nightmare :P )

Anyway there is not much to this post but I thought Id share about the awesome conditions the photog got to shoot in. Anyone else ever get lucky with that much time during a wedding?

*The only time I shot weddings by myself is for friends who had no money for a photog and were going to rely on a family friend with a point and shoot. I hate the stress and pressure of shooting weddings but will usually go back up a friend if they do a wedding shoot. I have a lot of photog friends and have acted as a secondary for many of them if they need the help.

I guess they weren't stored very well and probably should have been wrapped around a cardboard tube. It takes a long time for vinyl wrinkles to hang out, so for me $1,200 is unrealistic, but good luck to you!

ZermeloMar 15, 11:41 AMThe best option for the OP since his mother's ipad is still on 3.2.x is to jailbreak it with Spirit or whichever jailbreak allows for unthethered for 3.2.1 and wait for an untethered jailbreak for 4.3 which is (by all information) close to being finished.


This would give you the advantages of the jailbreak, and then you could update in a few weeks to 4.3 and get whatever features you want with that.

He can still jailbreak, just not update to 4.2.1. It's much better to jailbreak the 3.2.1 and wait a few weeks/(days?) for the unthethered jailbreak for 4.3 to come out.
