Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term art, I should call it "the Reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the mist.

I don't own any of my own paintings because a Picasso original costs several thousand dollars -- it's a luxury I can't afford.

SECURE ATTACHMENT AFFECTS SOCIAL AND THINKING SKILLS

“Even very young developing brains need much more than physical caretaking. Babies also need sensitive, loving responses from the people around them. If they don't get this, the development of social and thinking skills may suffer.”
~ Dave Riley, Ph.D Child Development Specialist

Read the full article by Dave Riley:

Attachment is so important to the overall healthy development of children!  It is my dream that every baby experiences secure attachment!

One of the main reasons I developed the Love Your Baby Brain Packet is to provide ideas for parents and caregivers to easily support secure attachment.

Baby, it's cold outside

Wow, tomorrow is December. I know this because I’ve switched to a long-sleeve sleep shirt and can no longer wear flip flops while running out to the grocery store (hey, it’s California, after all). Now, certain things about December always bum me out. The fact that it’s pitch black by 5:30 p.m. The fact that I’m assaulted by cloying holiday muzak everywhere I go. The fact that it’s the last month for me to cram in all the resolutions I failed to accomplish during the year. But other things about December always make me smile. The fact that I can finally drink hot cocoa (Hey, it’s California, it’s too damn hot here most of the time). The fact that cuddling on the sofa under a blanket it considered a perfectly acceptable recreational activity. The fact that I can watch all my favorite winter movies. Now, these aren’t just holiday movies. I mean, I watch “It’s a Wonderful Life,” every year like everyone else. But these are those seasonal treats that only seem right when there’s a chill in the air. So pour some hot cocoa, grab a fluffy blanket and come cuddle on the couch. It’s movie time.

Love ActuallyNecessary actually. In fact, with all due respect to Frank Capra, this is my favorite holiday movie, period. Every time Snape makes Ms. Trelawney cry, I start bawling. Though I’m glad to see the poor lovelorn best friend has finally moved on from pining for Keira Knightley and is now happily fighting zombies.

FargoAs soon as Marge Gunderson said “So, you were havin’ sex with the little fellow, then,” I knew I’d love Frances McDormand forever. Admit it, nothing says happy holidays like a foot sticking out of the wood chipper.

Doctor ZhivagoJulie Christie! Omar Sharif! Snow! Romance! Fur hats! (Normally, I’m really against fur. But it was the dead of winter during the Russian Revolution. So I’ll cut them some slack.)

The Cutting EdgeToe pick! This is my 100 percent, No. 1, favorite, if-it’s-on-I-must-watch, guilt pleasure winter movie of all time. I can’t tell you how many incredibly mediocre 90s movies I sat through because of my subsequent love of Moira Kelly.

So, let’s have it. Share your favorite winter movies. Though if you say “The Shining,” I’m going to have to seriously reassess sharing my blanket with you. And, for those of you preparing nativity scenes this season, remember that there was, indeed, more than one lobster present at the birth of Jesus. Merry December, everyone.

A PRIMARY RELATIONSHIP DURING INFANCY DIRECTLY INFLUENCES SECURE ATTACHMENT

The development of brain areas responsible for interaction, empathy, understanding, love, and responsiveness to others occurs as a result of secure attachment. A primary relationship during infancy directly influences these qualities.

In a blog post I read recently, attachment parenting was described as a trend. My sincere hope is this will not become a common opinion. Attachment is a scientifically proven human need which directly impacts brain connections.  We have come a long way in beginning to make the critical importance of a secure attachment better understood, but still have a long way to go before this is common practice for all children. Hopefully you will help in continuing to make this essential information well known.
Throughout the week I will post additional information that can assist in creating greater awareness of the positive and long lasting impact that is made through attachment.

Bonding with Your Baby Parenting Advice for Developing a Secure Attachment Bond is an extremely useful article on this topic.

SGALGG: Co-Worker Edition

It’s that time of year again for office potlucks and parties. That means hours of awkward socialization with your coworkers and watching your boss get sauced while hit on the receptionist. For the love of God, someone spike the eggnog so we can make it through the holiday season. But informal interactions with your colleagues doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable exercise in stilted small talk. In fact, it could be downright enjoyable. Of course, the level of enjoyability is greatly dependent on who your co-workers are. I mean, these co-workers certainly seem friendly. And when I say “friendly,” I mean like Straight Gals Acting Like Gay Gals. Let Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, circa “She-Devil” “Death Becomes Her” (mixed up my late 80s-early 90s wacky Meryl Streep comedies) show you the way to workplace bliss. She ain’t heavy, she’s my co-worker.

Alison Brie & Gillian Jacobs, “Community”Alison tweeted that this was her preferred reading position. “Reading,” so that’s what the kids are calling it today.

Maggie Q & Lyndsy Fonseca, “Nikita”Lyndsy looks like she is blushing from Maggie whispering a passage from some particularly explicit Nikita/Alex fanfic she found online. What? I can’t be the only one who ships this, right? I mean, have you seen how many tank tops they wear?

Lena Headey & Summer Glau, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”Speaking of tank tops, this show was none too shabby about getting its stars in them whenever possible.

Emily Blunt & Amy Adams, “Sunshine Cleaning”Sure, they played sisters. But that body language isn’t sisterly. Just sayin’.

Blake Lively & Leighton Meester, “Gossip Girl”It’s the old “let’s compare hand sizes”-move. Nice.

Feist & Emily Haines, Broken Social SceneIndie Rock Goddess Powers activate.

Audra McDonald & Anne Hathaway, “Twelfth Night”So much Shakespearean swoon is happening in this picture, it almost needs footnotes.

Chloe Sevigny & Ginnifer Goodwin, “Big Love”Bill Paxton who?

Jill Biden & Michelle ObamaThey make a very nice couple. No, really, I mean that. That look Michelle is giving Jill says maybe she does, too.

Naya Rivera & Dianna Agron, “Glee”Quintana, is that a thing?

Dianna Agron & Lea Michele, “Glee”Now I know Faberry/Achele is a thing. And by “thing” I mean what I replace all Quinn/Sam or Rachel/Finn scenes with in my head.

Tattoo Design Ideas - Questions To Start Asking Yourself To Get The Right Tattoo Design

If you're just getting ready to get your first tattoo and haven't given thought about what design to get, hold off before you start with the needle. The last thing you want to do is get something that you'll regret. Remember, you have to live with that tattoo for a long time. Because once you get a tattoo, it's yours (for the most part) forever unless you take extreme measures to get rid of it.

Getting the right tattoo design is a very serious undertaking and you'll need good starting point. So what you need to do is ask yourself questions. Because tattoos are permanent, and they hurt going on, the time you take now to find the right tattoo design idea will be very well worth it. So where do you start? Start asking yourself the following questions:

Question 1: Why do I want a tattoo?

Getting a tattoo can mean many things. You may want it as a way of expressing yourself. Or, perhaps it may represent an important time in your life. Your tattoo may also represent an interest or passion of yours. The last reason, you should get a tattoo is because everyone else has one.

If you want a tattoo of your boyfriends or girlfriends name, you may want to hold off for a while. . I don't want to sound like a downer, but you can have a few true loves to in your lifetime. Let's face it, people do grow apart. However, if you do want to express your love for your significant other, perhaps you can get their initials or a small design in case things don't work out. On the other hand if you have children, it's okay to have a tattoo of their names.

Question 2: What Makes Me Unique?

This question is just as tough as the first question. However, keep in mind need to ask yourself, the hard questions in order to start thinking about a cool tattoo design idea for your self. To figure out your unique qualities, you need to define your passions and interests are. For example, maybe you love baseball and play in a league, maybe you're father and dedicated to raising your kids, or maybe you have an insatiable interest of Japanese culture.

While your interests may change as time goes on and if you get a tattoo based on your unique qualities now, the tattoo will still represent a milestone in your life and you'll least likely to regret it. You have to remember, no one can tell the future and what you like now may very well be not be of interest 10 years from now. This is why it's important to research heavily for a tattoo design.

However, it's not enough to have just any collection of tribal tattoo designs. It may be true that the mysticism and simplicity of tribal tattoos are the reasons for their fame. Ideas for a tribal tattoo are everywhere, anyway. You can search the Internet for new design ideas. You just need a basic idea like a basic line, curve or symbol, and just modify them. You can also merge two designs and make a one original design. You can also find influence in film, literature, and other form of visual arts. You can also listen to music or watch a theatre play to find inspirations for new designs. You just need to set the mood. Pop art can also be a great imagination booster.
There are also paid membership sites that will give you connections to different artists with different styles. You can make friends with other tattoo artists, which is very important. Joining a tattoo artists' guild will not harm your style. This will even help enhance your skills.

Make friends with different artists for the vibe, networking, creativity, fun, and business benefits.

Besides, there are no perfect tattoos--a design only becomes perfect if the person who wants them has a deep affection for that design.

Having more tribal tattoo flashes will help your customers choose a design especially if he has no specific tat design in mind. You must always update your tribal tattoo flash cards. This is very helpful in establishing your credibility.

What Happened?

My work at the school board is complete, at least until the next time they call for some assistance. So now I can get back to writing about World of Warcraft. For the last two weeks or so the Pilgrim Bounty was going on. It spanned the old world and the "Shattering", and for me was the one my biggest noob moments. I haven't done any of the Pilgrim Bounty quests for the last couple years (ever since I did it on my main), I didn't think it necessary. That was of course until my daughter (and I guess, Nebz) opened my eyes.

You see, I totally forgot that you could use the "bounty" quests to totally get your cooking leveled. From zero to about 330ish in about an hour. I had a smattering of alts at 80 that still had cooking level 1. This would be a God send, you don't now how embarassing it is when your resident cook (I use my main - a rogue to do all the farming for fish feasts.) sends a stack or so to my other toons and they can't actually set up the fish feasts. You then have to PST the raid leader to see if they will do it for you.

So I figured I would get my toons up to the 330 mark really quick then spend some time getting them up the rest of the way (I really only dreaded the 0-300 trek). That said, I started to do the quests. I had 6 80's, a 60 and a level 8 (yes my daughter started a troll druid) to take through. What do you do on a Friday night? I decided to cook - virtually.

Around 10:00pm after a couple of hours of cooking I was getting a little peckish. So I went down stairs to make a sandwich. I made a hot salami on Italian bread sandwich. I also noticed that my wife had opened a bottle of 2008 Cabernat Merlot from Pillitteri Estates Winery, so I decided to finish off the bottle. Which would be about a half bottle (we have big glasses).

So here I am, back up in my office making stuffing, turkey and sweet potatos. Things are getting a little blurry. Next thing I know, I wake up on my office couch at 3:00am, feeling like I had the worst bender of my life, with my shirt untucked (Seinfeld dentist episode). Not only am I a WOW noob (when it comes to understanding my special events), I am a wine drinking noob now.

Well Christmas is coming up. I better start training.
