Athens 1900

It is weird when you leave a city and then come back after a year or two, or even leave for a few months, and then come back and see changes in roads, shops...But it is also interesting to see the same city in a previous era.
Who ever has been to Athens can see the differences depicted in these pictures taken in the 1900, where Greece was half its current size, without the 1.5 million Greeks who later came from Turkey in 1922.

Cars were not widely spread, making wagons the main mean of transportation of the time. Also the city then only had a population of about half a million, unlike its current population of 4.5 million.
As is evident through this last picture Athens has rapidly changed into a great cosmopolitan city..
