After college I had to sell my wet darkroom and rely on outside labs. I suffered from not reviewing my photos to a serious degree, they just sat in those white envelopes with the sticky glue on top. Digital has saved me as a photographer.

Eye4DesynApr 12, 04:10 PMI still prefer the nation's fastest network (AT&T) over the most reliable (VZW) any day. Not to mention my GSM 32GB iPad 1 can be used internationally as well. Besides, in my neck of the woods, AT&T service has been very reliable for data consumption. No complaints here.

I don't like the idea of living in a world where good outcomes are enforced.

My wife's car was hit in her work's parking garage not too long ago... and the woman who hit her put a note on the car. I felt really good about this, considering how many times I've been hit-and-run in the past. Until I noticed the big security camera pointed right at the space.

I didn't feel good anymore. I don't know if the woman left the note because she's a good person who did the right thing, or if she did it because she thought she might have been caught on camera.

I want to see racist people being racist and good people not being racist. I want to know where the line is. I don't want an overbearing nanny government forcing everyone to play nice.

TrishulOct 27, 02:40 AMits a high price to pay, but having a mac.com email address can be cool, and it has made people remember my email address a lot more easily, it stands out a bit more than the usual hotmail, yahoo, gmail suffixes. That's one thing, the other is i've found my .mac membership worth it, going to try Transmit, because i have found iDisk too slow, but if it works then it will be amazing. Evenstill i've had good use for my iDisk. Doing quick album pages is cool too, and very useful.

as people have said there's nothing .mac offers that any tech-minded person could set up for free, but i'm relatively tech minded, but it just means one less thing to worry about, and less time spent on mindless operations.

there is also a lot of other cool stuff you get, like free jam packs, things like that.. its basically like being a member of apple. I'm sure we pay just as much for other memberships and subscriptions. Now this new webmail is just so cool, glad i joined up when i did.

Trust me I served for 21 years and saw waste fraud and abuse, and there aint a dam thing your going to do, as soon as you blow the whistle your career is down the toilet and that is active duty personnel and the civilian workers also.

This about sums it up to the OP you are replying to here. I've been in for 6 years (a bit less than you obviously) but I do concur.

brucem91May 10, 03:59 PMChoosing to run it in osx over windows is just stubborness if you ask me. When all's said and done, you're getting the exact same experience on windows side while in-game, except higher performance.

The current mobility 4850s in the iMacs CAN run sc2 at native resolution with fluidity. I run max settings and native resolution, spare portraits to 2d, and get 30 fps-- never dip below 24fps. (This is on windows side, the mac osx side gets 20 less fps on average, which is pretty pathetic)Well, like you said, I get the same experience in OS X, just slightly lower graphics settings. Which is fine for me. However, for me, I just prefer to not reboot my mac just for SC II, when it runs in OS X as well. Besides, I normally use iChat or Skype to get voice chat working, which I have set up in OS X. I can't wait though for a week or so when I can then play SC II on my Mom's 27" iMac. I have more VRAM on my MBP, but her screen is so much bigger, so I can't wait. Has anyone played SC II yet on the 27" iMac?

As for Americans, I don't see the connection. The conservatives are "real" fiscal conservatives unlike the republicans and social moderates.

$18B surplus to $50B deficit . . .. yeh great job "real" conservatives.

@leekohler: We are smarter than our neighbours to the south. We voted in real conservatives and we have a pay per vote system rather than politicians pandering to large contributors.

We voted in criminals who flaunt the law, democracy and parliament. There are rocks smarter than us.

A fair number of people that I know use cell phones exclusively and is their primary phone. According to a recent bulletin from our local Telephone service provider they are seeing more people opt for just a cell phone instead of both a cell phone and a land line. It appears that more people are moving towards using the cell phone as a primary contact point which makes battery life quite important.

RuahrcMar 18, 03:24 PMIts funny that film and film cameras were so difficult to get right, but there was almost no post-processing. Now we shoot computers with lenses attached, get great technical results, yet post-process our photos to death.

I don't think this is entirely true. There was plenty of post processing back in the film days, just look at the works of Ansel Adams. It's just that the typical hobby photographer wasn't the one doing it- he sent his film off to a processing lab where it got developed and "post processed" by the lab technicians. Nowadays, with digital, the hobby photographer does almost all of the post processing himself.

The fundamentals of the process have not changed all that much, just who does them, and where/how.
