Like I said, I'm just waiting for the WWDC announcement before I take any further action. If Apple says a July release, I might wait. If they say September, I'll have to freeze myself like Cartman.

I should also mention that any decision I make will also depend on the price. If Lion is $129, I'll be persuaded to wait. If it is substantially less (say around $29-$49), I'll definitely buy the iMac sooner than later.

PeyoteDec 20, 05:58 PMDynamic Range was one thing I was about to mention. I don't know a lot about 35MM only scanners, but I know that when I'm looking for a flatbed scanner, I won't buy anything with a DMax under 3.4. Even 3.4 is pushing it IMHO, and really 3.8 is where it's at.

That is an often overlooked specification. It basically tells you how wide of a range of contrast it can scan. The higher the better.

GLSApr 19, 05:15 AMI've done the following once a week on all the laptops we have here, without worry:

-Rubbing alcohol on old washcloth. Takes care of case, keyboard, touchpad, wrist area. Don't saturate the washcloth; just enough to dampen it, then wipe all the surfaces except screen.

-Eyeglass cleaner from drugstore for display. Comes in small spray bottle. Use it with a microfiber cloth for the display. Same as with rubbing alcohol; just enough to dampen the cloth, then wipe display.

It looks like the graphics card only supports one external display by the specs.. so what would be the point of using the thunderbolt over the mini display port right?

I would get a 21.5" iMac to go with my two 22" ips monitors if I knew it could work...

The MBA has integrated graphics as well. The Nvidia 320M is marginally faster than the Intel HD 3000 in the 13" MBP, but the C2D processor in the MBA is significantly slower. The SSD drive makes a lot of operations on the MBA seem faster than the updated 13" MBP w/ HDD, but I've not seen any direct comparisons w/r/t running Lightroom. You might find that even the biggest 256GB SSD on the MBA could leave you space-constrained for storing raw image files.

FWIW, I returned my new 13" MBP and I'm now waiting for the Sandy Bridge update to the MBA line (hopefully including the Thunderbolt port).

You talk about "the book". Which book? And who is the author? Also, what were the "other" books?

Not one had an example of putting a pic inside the Picker.
The book was a single column, no example of multi column, or custom widths or loading from array.
See the UICatalog sample app for demonstrations of how to, at least, use images.

Basically I need MUCH more detail, eight book and not one goes into good detail.

Is there any book that REALLY gets under the hood and opens things up?
Of all the programming help/docs/books I read, it's pretty hard to imagine there's not a better book than these.
Most books don't go into the kind of detail I think you seek. They give you the basics and then it's up to you and your cleverness to use those fundamentals to adapt things to your needs.

Amazon's preview thing is pretty worthless, can't get into the meat of the book, the 'contents' doesn't tell you enuff.
They'll give you sample pages from a chapter. Any more and they'd be giving away to real content and some would have no incentive to buy the book, would they?

jswSep 19, 08:40 PMIf you're buying at an actual Apple Store, then, sadly, you can't upgrade anything for the PBs (except buy very overpriced RAM). If the deal you're getting is a good one, I'd just accept the smaller drive and maybe buy an external.

However, are you sure you can't order online?
